Garmin GPS Nuvi 255w Accessory Bundle - Car Charger + Home Travel AC Charger + USB Data Cable + Free Stars Stripes Silicone Wristband Review

Garmin GPS Nuvi 255w Accessory Bundle - Car Charger + Home Travel AC Charger + USB Data Cable + Free Stars Stripes Silicone Wristband Review
I purchased this power supply to be used as a permanent installation in my Jeep. As it turns out the coiled cord is much shorter than the original power cord which uses a straight cord. However I ended up using the original power cord for my permanent installation as that cord was not a coiled cord. This new one with it coiled cord actually works better when I mount my Nuvi 200 to the windshield mount as the cord is shorter and neater. The cord is not in the way of my vehicle shifter. The lighter end is much better construction than the original. I'd purchase another one if needed.
I bought this for the AC charger, and that works fine. 2.5 stars. The car charger, however, doesn't work. After a few minutes plugged into my GPS (a Garmin nuvi 255W) and the lighter socket, the GPS shuts off! Zero stars. If you want another car charger, this isn't it. I averaged the stars and rounded up.

ResQMe, The Keychain Version of the Original LifeHammer (Yellow) Review

ResQMe, The Keychain Version of the Original LifeHammer (Yellow) Review
This product does exactly as it says. I have been carrying it on my keychain for over a month now and it hasn't caught on anything yet, which is good because my previous keychain tool got caught on everything. Breaks glass easily, but I haven't tested the seatbelt cutter.
I was in a driver-side car accident, totaling the car,and was afraid that I couldn't get out of the seat belt. This little tool on my key chain will always be handy so I never need worry about that again.

Univerisal Full Set Car Seat Covers Solid Black 114 Review

Univerisal Full Set Car Seat Covers Solid Black 114 Review
I have a PT Cruiser so I knew that universal seat covers would be a bit big on my seats but it fits really well! I only had to place some U-glue on the headrest covers to make them look like a custom fit. I did have to cut holes for seatbelts on the back seats but I got a steal of a price. I feel as if they were the best deal for the cost. If you want a perfect fit for both the front and back, just remember you will have to buy direct from the car manufacturer and they always think their products are made out of freaking gold. For us, this was a great deal that arrived as promised.
Great fitting product, smooth look, decent fabric, I especially like the back seat cover, looks nice & for a great price!

Equus 3721 Battery and Charging System Monitor Review

Equus 3721 Battery and Charging System Monitor Review
Well, this monitor did the trick, for now all I do is plug it in the cigarette lighter, and voila, I can tell if it's charging. As said, most times it's charging, but now I have the security of knowing if/when it's not, and I don't have to spend over $300 to get a new starter motor but at least the mystery is solved. The monitor also indicates the battery voltage when the motor is not running there's a nice diagram that comes with it that tells you what's good and what's not. If you have a suspicious electrical charging system, I highly recommend it. I have a 9 year old toyota truck that has a questionable system. It charges most of the time, but I never knew when unless I actually got out and put a voltmeter on the battery with the engine running.

Altus Platinum Magic Shade Standard Sunshade Review

Altus Platinum Magic Shade Standard Sunshade Review
The main problem I have with this item is that the list of vehicles for which it works is only given on the packaging (and not here on the website). I thought it would certainly fit my 2010 golf (given that it is a compact car) but it does not! Otherwise it would have been fine.
Bought this as a replacement sunshade for my windshield. I own a 2003 Toyota Matrix and it fits just fine (I would imagine it should fit all compact cars with no problem)! We have 100+ degree summers in the valley and seems to keep my car cool enough compared to when I didn't use one of these. If you haven't owned one of these before, it might take a few tries to get used to twisting and collapsing it down for easy and compact storage (easy to do as long as you apply to proper technique). I'm only mentioning this because some people complain about folding it up. Don't mean to sound redundant, but just fold it the right way and it works every time - quick and easy like a snap!

Ray-Ban RB 2132 (NEW WAYFARER) 901L Black/Grey (55-18-145) Review
Sleek, genuine, and classy. I'm infatuated with my first pair as I wear them every chance I get; talk about a great deal when a pair like these are 30% off! Never thought I'd wear a wayfarer since I found it to be an unflattering style due to the shape of my face, but I think anyone is able to pull it off. To last a lifetime.
Love my Ban's! They're classic. I'd buy another pair from here again, just a matter of time.

Back Booster 1001 Inflatable Lumbar Support Cushion Review

Back Booster 1001 Inflatable Lumbar Support Cushion Review
This item arrived with no instructions but an impressive list of disclaimers. I inflated it, strapped it in the driver's seat of my car and it felt great. I drove 5 miles to a shopping center for a 15-minute errand, and it was completely deflated when I returned to my car. I reinflated it, and the stopper popped out of the inflation point almost immediately. I've returned it to Amazon for a refund with a suggestion that Amazon dump it and let street vendors handle it from now on.
Got this to help with air travel after a tough back surgery. The product worked perfectly for me. Easy to inflate, but also easy to adjust. Inflate to a little more than needed and then lean back on the cushion and squeeze the air valve to release air until the support feels comfortable. Folds up into a small bundle and stows easily in the supplied storage bag. Great value for the money.

Mommy's Helper Car Seat Sun Shade Review

Mommy's Helper Car Seat Sun Shade Review
Easy to use and works as advertised. My daughter's car seat (with this cover over it) had direct sunlight (90 degrees outside) coming in the window for an hour while we shopped and when we got back in the metal and plastic parts of her car seat were only warm, not hot to the touch so I didn't have to run the AC to cool off the car before putting her in the seat. Just what I wanted.
This car seat cover is wonderful!! It keeps the metal on the buckles cool so I don't have to worry about them burning my baby's skin.

Solvit 62296 Pet Vehicle Safety Harness, Large Review

Solvit 62296 Pet Vehicle Safety Harness, Large Review
Even though we are on our second harness from this company I love it. My dog is safe and comfortable. She can't get out of it, it makes her safe in the car, the padding is twisting a little but it's not a major problem. WE love this harness. I have no idea what happened to the first one, she was being dog-sat and one of the straps was cut. It was getting a little tiny for her anyway. She is a 50lb lab mix and we have her in the large now. The medium always made me feel like one of the straps might pull through...It is easy to put on her, and even our vet likes it. :)
Wanted to keep my dog from becoming a 50 pound projectile when I travel. I also want him not to try to climb in my seat when I drive. Looked a several harnesses. This one was rated high. I am pleased with the purchase. My dog adjusted to wearing it very quickly. My vet is going to recommend it to her clients. Good purchase. I may buy one for my brother's dog.

Garmin GPS Nuvi 265wt Accessory Bundle - Car Charger + Home Travel AC Charger + USB Data Cable + Free Stars Stripes Silicone Wristband Review

Garmin GPS Nuvi 265wt Accessory Bundle - Car Charger + Home Travel AC Charger + USB Data Cable + Free Stars Stripes Silicone Wristband Review
I sent this GPS back to you one month ago and you will not even acknowledge you received it, much less refund me the price I paid for it. I sent it back because it would not even locate my home address on it. No, I was not pleased with the Garmin 265wt, and I am even less pleased with your handling (theft) of the money I paid for it, since you now have both my money and my returned GPS.
I bought this bundle for the AC charger, which I knew would not be included with the GPS. That, and because the description of the Nuvi 265WT (which I bought in the same order) seemed vague about whether a USB cable was included. Turns out the Nuvi does come with a USB cable (and a car charger). So if you're considering buying this because you think you'll need a USB cable, don't bother. I suppose if the 12V in-car charger that came with the unit dies or gets lost someday, the car charger will become useful. That's assuming I store it where I can find it. The 12V charger that came with the unit seems far more rugged than this one, by the way.

Bottom line: The one part I've tried, the AC adapter, works just dandy. It may even do double duty charging up an MP3 player, since the Nuvi end of it is just a garden-variety "mini-D" USB plug). But they don't advertise it for that function, so try it at your own risk!

Xantrex Technologies 851-0178 XPower 175-Watt Micro Inverter Review

Xantrex Technologies 851-0178 XPower 175-Watt Micro Inverter Review
This item is poorly constructed. It failed after using it occasionally for one year. Dissasembly of the failed inverter shows very poor construction techniques. The transformer had broken loose from the circuit board because the manufacturer depended upon very thin wires to hold this heavy component in place. RECOMMENDATION: DONT BUY
Micro Inverter saved the day. The sound it makes, a slight whirring is easily drowned out by a CD playing the front part of the car while the children quietly passed the time watching movies on a long trip s. Great product to have in the car at all times. I bought this to inflate our raft on a day trip to Colordado. The raft is medium quality and I was willing to shell out extra money for an outdoor so thia top of the line pump . Well the raft worked really well. The product is a real Life saver! The car charger fuse must have died on our portable DVD player on the 12 hour drive up to Co.

Solvit 62294 Pet Vehicle Safety Harness, Small Review

Solvit 62294 Pet Vehicle Safety Harness, Small Review
I have two Jack Russell Terriers and before i bought this protective gear my SUV's rear seat was a mess, always full of hair. Now my dogs can enjoy the ride with much more comfort and I can enjoy an always clean seat.
I brought this in order to keep our one year old maltese/dachshund mix puppy safe whilst travelling in the car.

I was not very impressed with the product when it arrived. There were no instructions or any indication (not even a picture) to show how the harness was supposed to fit the dog, nor how the straps could be adjusted. My husband and I managed to figure it out reasonably quickly, but it was a bit of a pain trying to get the thing on a squirmy dog for the first time. Instructions would have helped so at least we would have known what we were doing. Having never brought a car harness before, we were equally unsure as to how the harness was meant to secure in the car. We were able to quickly figure out how it attaches, but again, instructions would have been nice to save time and the stress of having an excited dog leaping around whilst we try to restrain her (in the end, we detached the leash part from the harness, fixed the leash to the seat belt, then attached the leash to the harness once certain everything was secure).

The product itself seemed to be well made, although I was concerned by its weight. My little dog is only about 15lb, and this harness seemed a bit bulky and heavy for her to be wearing. Still, the harness felt secure (after minor adjustment to fit my dog's size) and although it seemed a little weighty, my dog tolerated it fairly well. Most of the weight seems to be the fault of the metal fastenings, which were a lot larger than I expected to find on a harness intended for small breeds.

The reason I am giving this product only one star is because it did not serve the purpose I brought it for --- keeping my dog secure on the back seat of the car whilst traveling.

After only ten minutes wearing this harness whilst traveling in the car, my dog managed to jump onto the floor (and, if she can jump down, then she can also fall down if the car were to come to a sudden halt). Unfortunately, once on the floor, the harness became extremely tight and might well have cut into her and caused injury. In addition, once she had climbed onto the floor, the harness was so tight that she could not climb back onto the seat. Gladly I was accompanying my husband at the time and was able to release my dog immediately, but had this happened without me there to release her, it could have proven to be be a very distressing/potentially harmful situation. Unfortunately, this problem could not have been avoided by shortening the length of the leash attachment, as it was already at its shortest setting.

EZ-Clip Electronic EZ-Pass Holder Review

EZ-Clip Electronic EZ-Pass Holder Review
I've been using one of these (same brand/model) for several years now, though I bought mine at an auto parts store. This is more of a "long term" review. I have the black one.

I live in PA, and use it with the EZ Pass tag we have here. I have no issues with the fitment of the tag in the holder; it fits great, and does not rattle at all. The holder then uses 3 small suction cups to adhere to the windshield, and I place mine behind the rear view mirror so that it's out of sight and does not create a blind spot. I have no problems with it failing to work properly when secured that way. That's not to say there aren't any problems, however...

My car is kept outside year round, and is a daily commuter. Being in NE PA, it sees all weather, from sub zero temps in the winter to over 100 degrees ambient in the summer, and everything in between. As a result, the included suction cups have yellowed and become less effective over the years, being exposed to so many temperature variants. That, in and of itself, isn't really a big deal, but it does mean that the tag regularly falls off of the windshield, hits the dash, and bounces somewhere in the car. Sometimes this happens while driving, causing me to have to fish around for the tag so that I can get through the tolls, and sometimes it happens while parked. Sometimes it's a result of the heat, and sometimes of the cold. Sometimes, the cups won't stick due to condensation on the inside of the windshield. Fortunately, it hasn't damaged my dash at all, but for those who have expensive nav screens and whatnot in their dash, falling objects could be a problem. So, that's problem number one.

Problem number two is even more prevalent, and contributes to the falling problem, and that's heat. In the sun/heat, the plastic melts. It doesn't melt where the tag slips in; rather, it melts where the suction cups attach to the tag, turning those points into a hot, gooey mess. This results in two things: first, the holes that the suction cups go in become enlarged over time as the plastic continues to melt, day in and day out, which contributes to the holder falling off of the windshield more often since it's not as secure. Second, because the plastic becomes a hot, gooey mess, the holder will fall off, land on a seat, and the melted plastic will stick to the seat, making a mess that needs cleaning, while the suction cups will remain stuck on the windshield. This requires you to reattach the cups to the holder, further deforming the melted holes since the plastic is usually still soft.

The third problem is a minor one that most people won't encounter, and that's that the design of the holder (using 3 suction cups) doesn't allow it to be used on curved surfaces. This means that I can't stick it on the inside of my curved motorcycle windshield on my sport bike. If it were the 2 bigger suction cup design, I could rotate it and mount it vertically, but the 3 small suction cups prevents it from working like that. Again, not a problem for most people, but fellow riders know that digging for an EZ Pass tag while riding through the tolls is a huge pain, and potentially very dangerous, so it would be nice if one didn't have to think about doing that. Even if I could stick it on the bike windshield, the thing is so deformed from the heat now that I'd be afraid it would fall off while I'm riding, and that would really make for a problem.

So, in conclusion, it works, which is why I give it 3 stars, but it fails to withstand the test of time and is very susceptible to temperature/weather conditions, which is why I can't rate it any higher than that. I have since read of acrylic holders that supposedly do not melt; given the choice, I'd definitely go for one of those now, as this model certainly has a limited lifespan.
I bought this product because I didn't want to put the velcro on my windshield. Plus we don't use the ez pass that often. It has been great so far. We are able to easily stick the ez pass on the windshield when we are going on a trip and easily able to remove it when we are done. The one downside came this summer in the extreme heat. We put the pass on the windshield to go to the beach and didn't take it off, as we would be driving to Boston soon after, and the extreme heat caused the plastic to warp and melt. I need to buy a new one as it is too warped to properly mount. I would highly recommend that you remove it from the car during extreme heat. Or at least remove it from the window. I still really like this product!
